Hello! My name is Luna and I hold a degree in Geology from the University of Oviedo. I began my professional career at
After my time at INDUROT, I began my career in the world of publishing mountain books and maps at Ediciones Adrados. In this company, I carry out work related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applied to hiking cartography.
Thanks to my dual role as a geologist and editor, the IGME commissioned me to design and produce the Geological Guide to the Picos de Europa National Park, in which I worked with staff from the Department of Geology and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME). This publication, released in 2010, opened my eyes to the need to create products that enable the dissemination of Earth Sciences to all audiences, so in 2011 I produced, as the sole author, a geological guide to the eastern coast of Asturias, following the same approach. This book, titled Eastern Coast of Asturias. A Unique Landscape, was very successful, and an expanded second edition was published in 2014. Likewise, the IGME counted on me again to produce the Geological Guide to the Atlantic Islands of Galicia Park, in which I contributed to the geomorphology section and provided a large part of the illustrations.
These publications redirected my career as a geologist towards a more outreach-focused path. I regularly attend conferences related to geological heritage, geotourism and the teaching of Earth Sciences. I belong to the Spanish Association for the Teaching of Earth Sciences (AEPECT). To complement my training in tourism and leisure, I qualified as a Tourism guide (GT-106), and I am a member of the Association of Tourism Information Professionals of Asturias (APIT Asturias). I also graduated in the speciality of Mid-Mountain Sports Technician and am a member of the Spanish Association of Mountain Guides (AEGM). As I consider scientific outreach from an early age to be fundamental within my activities, the Leisure Time Director qualification enables me to design, plan and run camps for the little ones.
