Geology Workshops
Workshops, experiments, and children’s games
GEOLAG offers geology workshops for children and young people, with games, simple experiments, and participatory activities to discover how our planet works.
Children and young people will learn how the universe and Earth were formed, why volcanoes and earthquakes exist, how mountains, caves, and beaches originate, and how fossils form and dinosaur footprints are preserved.
All through games, simple experiments, and explanations adapted to their age.
Play and learn!

Children's and Youth Routes
Routes and hiking
with school or family
Simple and educational routes for children and young people.
The Ice Age
Among the routes that allow us to discover our glacial past, we highlight the Puertos de Áliva, where we will discover the traces left by glaciers, or perhaps an easy trek around the Lagos de Covadonga, which will transport us to those times when ice covered everything.
Karst
Rainwater sculpts limestone rock creating amazing forms. On the eastern coast of Asturias, water has formed caves, galleries, and sinkholes that create the spectacle of blowholes and interior beaches. In the Picos de Europa, water has carved the deepest sinkholes in the world and incredible limestone pavements cover the entire landscape.
Jurassic Asturias
From Gijón to Ribadesella extends the Dinosaur Coast, where we will learn about some of the animals that lived during the Jurassic period in Asturias: dinosaurs, ammonites, belemnites, and other organisms that left their mark on this territory.
Let’s follow their tracks!
The Coast
The Asturian coast shows us changing landscapes according to the tides. From the steep cliffs of Cabo Peñas to the extensive beaches and dunes of Bayas or Salinas, estuaries such as Villaviciosa, or pocket beaches such as those of Llanes, passing through the multitude of arches, islands, caves, and raised beaches.
