Conditions for activities, routes, workshops, and training

Last updated: May 2026

These conditions generally regulate participation in outreach activities, routes, workshops, presentations, courses, interpretive visits, training, and educational services organized or provided by GEOLAG · Geological Tourism®.

These conditions may be supplemented with specific information for each activity, budget, program, technical sheet, prior communication, or particular document.

1. Nature of the Activities

GEOLAG develops activities related to geology, natural heritage, landscape interpretation, scientific outreach, environmental education, training, and geological tourism.

Activities may take place in indoor spaces, educational centers, cultural entities, private facilities, public spaces, outdoor routes, beaches, cliffs, mountain areas, rivers, caves, outcrops, museums, interpretation centers, or other environments related to Earth Sciences.

2. Prior Information for Each Activity

Before each activity, GEOLAG may provide information on:

  • Activity title and description.
  • Location.
  • Scheduled date and time.
  • Approximate duration.
  • Difficulty level, where applicable.
  • Target audience.
  • Age or accompaniment requirements.
  • Recommended equipment.
  • Minimum physical conditions, if necessary.
  • Accessibility or mobility limitations.
  • Price, budget, or economic conditions, if applicable.
  • Available spots.
  • Cancellation or modification conditions, when applicable.

The participant or contracting entity must review this information before confirming their participation.

3. Routes and Activities in Natural Areas

Routes and activities in natural areas may be subject to external factors such as weather, tides, terrain conditions, environmental restrictions, construction, closed access, floods, landslides, visibility conditions, wind, waves, or decisions by competent authorities.

GEOLAG may modify, adapt, shorten, substitute, or cancel an activity when there are safety reasons, environmental conservation, force majeure, or reasonable impossibility of carrying it out under the planned conditions.

Safety, prudence, and respect for the natural environment will always prevail over the exact fulfillment of the initially planned itinerary.

4. Obligations of Participants

Participants agree to:

  • Follow the instructions of GEOLAG or the person responsible for the activity.
  • Respect the natural environment, private property, and geological heritage.
  • Not leave waste.
  • Not damage or extract fossils, minerals, rocks, flora, fauna, or other protected elements.
  • Not access prohibited, dangerous, closed, or restricted areas.
  • Use appropriate footwear, clothing, and equipment.
  • Inform in advance of any relevant circumstance that may affect their safe participation.
  • Maintain respectful conduct towards the group, the organization, the environment, and third parties.

GEOLAG may exclude a participant from an activity when their conduct endangers their safety, that of the group, the conservation of the environment, or the proper development of the activity.

5. Physical Condition, Age, and Accessibility

Some activities may require a minimum physical condition, ability to walk on uneven terrain, ascend or descend slopes, traverse wet, coastal, or stony areas, or remain outdoors for an extended period.

The participant must assess whether the activity is suitable for their physical condition, age, experience, and personal circumstances.

When an activity is indicated as suitable for minors, families, seniors, or people with reduced mobility, this indication must be understood in accordance with the specific conditions described for that activity.

If there are doubts about the suitability of an activity, it is recommended to consult GEOLAG beforehand.

6. Minors

The participation of minors must be carried out under the responsibility of their parents, guardians, legal representatives, educational center, organizing entity, or responsible adult.

In school, educational, or group activities, the contracting entity will be responsible for having the necessary authorizations and for ensuring adequate ratios, accompaniment, and supervision.

GEOLAG may establish specific conditions for activities with minors, including minimum age, mandatory accompaniment, authorizations, or safety instructions.

7. Educational Centers, Entities, and Groups

When an activity is requested by an educational center, association, company, public administration, or other entity, said entity will be responsible for:

  • Providing truthful information about the group.
  • Communicating special needs, limitations, or relevant circumstances.
  • Obtaining necessary authorizations.
  • Coordinating attendance and punctuality.
  • Ensuring group accompaniment when applicable.
  • Complying with the agreed economic and organizational conditions.

GEOLAG may adapt the content, duration, and methodology of the activity according to the group’s profile and the agreed objectives.

8. Weather, Tides, and Force Majeure

In outdoor activities, GEOLAG may modify or cancel the activity due to weather conditions, tides, official alerts, terrain risks, illness, logistical incidents, administrative restrictions, or any other force majeure.

When possible, a reasonable alternative will be proposed, such as a change of date, adaptation of the route, substitution for another activity, or modification of the program.

The specific economic conditions in case of cancellation, postponement, or change of date must be regulated in the specific information for each activity, budget, registration form, or particular contracting conditions.

9. Geological Heritage, Fossils, and Natural Elements

GEOLAG’s activities promote the knowledge, respect, and conservation of geological and natural heritage.

Unless expressly authorized and in accordance with applicable regulations, it is not permitted to extract fossils, minerals, rocks, archaeological remains, natural elements, or any protected material.

The observation, photography, and interpretation of natural heritage must always be carried out respectfully and without altering the environment.

10. Photographs and Recordings During Activities

During activities, photographs or recordings may be taken for outreach, educational, documentary, or promotional purposes.

When images allow identification of participants, especially minors, GEOLAG will request the corresponding authorization when necessary.

Individuals who do not wish to appear in photographs or recordings must communicate this before the start of the activity.

11. Liability

GEOLAG will organize and conduct activities with professional diligence, ensuring that the information provided is clear and that safety conditions are appropriate to the nature of the activity.

However, participation in outdoor activities involves inherent risks of the natural environment that cannot be completely eliminated.

GEOLAG will not be liable for damages resulting from:

  • Failure to follow instructions given during the activity.
  • Reckless or negligent conduct of participants.
  • Use of inappropriate footwear, clothing, or equipment.
  • Concealment of relevant personal circumstances.
  • Unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Sudden changes in weather, tides, or natural conditions.
  • Actions of third parties unrelated to GEOLAG.
  • Cases of force majeure.

12. Insurance, Permits, and Authorizations

When an activity requires insurance, permits, administrative authorizations, or specific conditions, it will be indicated in the particular information for the activity or in the agreement with the contracting entity.

In activities organized by third parties where GEOLAG participates as a speaker, guide, trainer, or collaborator, the organizing entity may assume certain logistical, legal, insurance, permit, or group coordination obligations.

13. Changes to Activities

GEOLAG may introduce reasonable changes to itineraries, content, schedules, materials, activity order, or methodology when necessary to improve the experience, adapt to the group, ensure safety, or respond to unforeseen circumstances.

14. Data Protection in Activities

Personal data processed due to the organization or participation in activities will be governed by GEOLAG’s Privacy Policy.

In the case of activities with educational centers, minors, entities, or groups, specific conditions may be established regarding data processing, image authorizations, participant lists, or organizational communications.

15. Acceptance of Conditions

The request, reservation, contracting, or participation in an activity organized or provided by GEOLAG implies the acceptance of these general conditions, without prejudice to any particular conditions that may be agreed upon for each activity.

Acceptance may be made via web form, email, budget confirmation, registration, reservation, or any other means of communication used to organize the activity.
